This is a friendly reminder that now is the time to file for your Homestead Exemption. If you purchased a new home in 2021, you have until April 1st to file and save on your property taxes!

How Homestead Exemptions Work

By filing for a Homestead Exemption, your property taxes will be reduced significantly. You only have to file once, as exemptions are automatically renewed each year until you change your primary residence.

How to File: 3 Simple Steps

  1. Determine if Homestead Exemption applies to you. Did you buy a primary residence in Georgia on or after January 1st, 2021?
    If yes, then this applies to you.

  2. Find your county below and click the county link for additional information.

  3. Gather all necessary paperwork to file. This will vary by county.

  4. Submit online, mail, or go in person to file your Homestead Exemption by April 1st, 2022
